CrossCase is a daily crossword game about real criminal cases. One puzzle a day. Each case takes seven puzzles to solve, and every answer you find adds a sourced fact to the case file.

Public beta: 3 cases, in English and French

This beta contains three cases: The Dahmer Case, The West Case and The BTK Case, 21 puzzles in all. The calendar opened on September 25, 2026, with one puzzle a day until October 15. Missed days can be caught up whenever you like, so you can start at any time.

The full game, with 14 cases, is planned for October 24, 2026.

How it plays

• One puzzle a day, the same for everyone.
• Seven puzzles per case. The seventh closes the file.
• Every answer unlocks a fact card, with its source.
• A case file with the story, a timeline, places, witnesses and evidence.
• CrossCoins to reveal a letter or a whole word when you are stuck.
• Weekly challenges, levels, titles and avatars.
• A gold, silver or bronze medal for each closed case, depending on the help you used.

Real cases, told with restraint

Facts come from court records, press archives, books and official documents, all listed in the case file. Each case is named after its perpetrator, never after a victim. No photos of victims.

Content warning: the cases involve murder, abduction and sexual violence. Not for children: intended for adults (18+).

What is different in the beta

• Purchases are simulated: nothing is ever charged.
• Four fake ads, parodies made for the beta, play offline to test where ads would go. No ad network, no tracking.
• On first launch, the beta asks whether you agree to send gameplay statistics (sessions, play time, puzzles opened and finished, hints, demo ads, CrossCoins), linked only to a random installation number. Never your name, device or advertising ID, location or answers. You can stop sending and erase what was sent at any time: Settings → Beta → Beta Report. Details: crosscase.fr/beta-en.html
• No account. Your progress stays on your phone.
